JOIN A COMMITTEE or HELP WITH ONE!

You are welcome to be a part of our church family by serving on a committee OR by helping with various tasks and events. This is a great way to get to know people! If you have a desire to be a part of one of our committees or would like to lend a helping hand, please let us know.

Discipleship & Spiritual Formation


PURPOSE: To develop spiritual growth for all ages

SUBCOMMITTEES:

  • Children’s Ministries (ages birth – grade 5)
  • FriendShip Preschool
  • Youth (grades 6-12)
  • Adult Education

EXAMPLES OF WAYS TO SERVE: teach a class, volunteer with our kids or youth, mission trip planning, recruit guest speakers and help plan our classes

Fellowship & Hospitality


PURPOSE:  To host and plan fellowship events

EXAMPLES OF WAYS TO SERVE: 

  • plan, organize and set-up church meals and receptions

Membership


PURPOSE:  to support and grow the membership of SPC

EXAMPLES OF WAYS TO SERVE:

  • reach out to visitors through personal notes
  • plan and host Membership Orientation
  • help to assimilate new members into our church family

Mission


PURPOSE:  To encourage mission activity by:

  • seeking ways to proclaim the good news of Christ Jesus to our church, local communities and beyond
  • encouraging participation in mission activities
  • seeking to develop mission partnerships

SUBCOMMITTEES:

  • Benevolence: recommends mission grants to the Mission Committee
  • Campbell Scholarship: selects recipients for scholarship
  • Center for Hope: coordinates & oversees mission opportunities at the CFH
  • Day on the Lawn: plans DOL rummage sale
  • Meals & Service: oversees mission work at The Ladle, Neighbors in Need, Amigos, & Produce 2 People
  • Hammer & Nails: hands-on work projects within our church and area missions

Property


PURPOSE:  To ensure the facilities and grounds are properly maintained by:

  • seeking out church volunteers whenever possible for repair and maintenance
  • setting and overseeing Independent Contractor and Building Use policies
  • evaluating equipment needs of church and overseeing procurement & use
  • creating and implementing a Master Facilities plan
  • creating and maintaining appropriate signage for church campus
  • maintaining interior decorating that is welcoming

Stewardship


PURPOSE:  To educate and communicate mission and ministry needs, and to foster a climate of generosity in our church by:

  • conducting an annual Stewardship Campaign
  • providing year around Christian stewardship education for the congregation
  • establishing & maintaining an ongoing Planned Giving program
  • monitoring all fundraising to better understand our giving practices and history
  • coordinate annual budgeting process with the Finance Committee
  • plan and recruit speakers for 60 Seconds of Stewardship

Technology


PURPOSE:  To maintain church information and communication systems by:

  • operating and maintaining sound and video systems
  • ensuring the preservation of content via recording, streaming, and archiving
  • supporting the Director of Communications by helping to identify and develop various methods of communication

EXAMPLES OF WAYS TO SERVE:

  • operate sound equipment for services
  • provide IT assistance/guidance for church equipment

Worship & Music


PURPOSE:  To support the worship services by:

  • helping the pastors in planning worship services
  • supporting the Director of Music Ministries
  • recruiting, training, and coordinating lay readers and ushers
  • overseeing Communion, funerals, weddings, and musical endowments

EXAMPLES OF WAYS TO SERVE:

  • arrange flowers for Sunday morning services
  • welcome guests at funerals and distribute bulletins
  • assist with serving Communion
  • provide support to clergy and guests during weddings

OTHER WAYS TO USE YOUR GIFTS:

  • sing or play in one of our choirs
  • be a lay reader during a worship service
  • usher on a Sunday morning
